Historical Engagement

2008

Public Consultation & First Nations Engagement

Esquimalt Lagoon Trestle BridgeIn April 2008 a draft document, Public Consultation and First Nations Engagement Process—Wastewater Treatment Strategy, was prepared for the CRD by Diana Butler, MCIP, of Urban Aspects Consulting Group. Her report outlines a proposed strategy for engaging target audiences and describes consultation objectives and activities.

The CRD has also engaged consultant John Balogh, a special advisor for aboriginal relations, who has created The CRD's First Nations Engagement Process—Wastewater Treatment, an appendix to the report. The appendix provides description of the legal framework for First Nations consultation and outlines the CRD's objectives in ensuring appropriate involvement of First Nations in the project.
